Seamless User data deletion for compalience and trust on Money View App
🚩The Problem
Users often feel anxious about their data lingering in apps after uninstallation, especially with financial applications where sensitive information is shared. New RBI regulations required a data deletion system, but the challenge was creating one that empowers users while maintaining business engagement.
Why don't apps offer a simple way to delete our information when we're done using them? With financial apps, it's almost impossible to explore anything without sharing personal details."
📒 Objectives & Scope
Primary Goal
Design a compliant system that allows users to request data deletion while strategically encouraging them to stay engaged with the platform.
Initial Scope
◆ Users without active loans
◆ Personal Loans, Banking, Credit Tracker
◆ Money View systems only
🚧Constraints & Approach
We mapped two phases upfront:
Design Constraints
✦ Mandatory RBI compliance for data deletion
✦ High-risk, irreversible user action
✦ Need to avoid nudging or manipulative patterns
🎥 A Quick Peek at the Solution
Created a simple, secure way for users to easily delete users' data when they want, giving them full control.

The solution separates communication control, data deletion, and identity verification into distinct steps, helping users reduce noise before taking irreversible actions.
🖇️ Emotional Journey Mapping
We mapped different user intents and emotional states to tailor the experience
Low Intent Users
✦
Emotions: Curious, uncertain, easily swayed
✦
Informative tone that educates without discouraging
✦
Strategy: Show value, create FOMO, offer easy alternatives
✦
Goal: Convert to unsubscribe option instead of delete
High Intent Users
✦
Emotions: Determined, privacy-concerned, frustrated
✦
Strategy: Provide clear path, ensure transparency, build trust
✦
Goal: Respect decision while leaving door open for return
Design Philosophy: Create protective friction without dark patterns. Every confirmation should inform and empower, not confuse or manipulate. Users should feel in control while understanding the full impact of their choices.
✏️ Shaping the Flow Through Wireframes
Wireframes helped translate compliance rules and user concerns into a clear, step-by-step journey.
The flow was designed as a guided decision path, where users are informed gradually rather than confronted with everything at once.
🔑 Key UX Decisions
Before jumping into polished UI, I mapped the entire experience using wireframes.
This helped translate compliance rules and user concerns into a clear, step-by-step journey.

✨ Outcome & Reflection
This project resulted in a compliant and transparent data deletion experience that balances user control, regulatory requirements, and business needs.
More importantly, it reinforced how sensitive actions in fintech should be designed—by slowing users down with clarity, not friction that manipulates.
